I've been teaching yoga for over 30 years now. I'm coming up for age 65 but I have no plans to retire for at least 20 years! My British Wheel of Yoga training is all about helping students find their own level. Over all these years of teaching I've honed the basic approach that I learned in my training with the British Wheel; no radical changes, just a gradual evolution which, of course, still continues. The yoga I facilitate is relatively gentle; breath and mindfulness are integrated with the asanas and I seek to balance flow and stillness.
I'm very well known here in Oxford because I've been teaching here for over 20 years and because in 2002 I started the Yoga Barn in Wolvercote which is a yoga school in a gorgeous nineteenth century barn, looking out over the ancient Port Meadow to the spires of Oxford. As well as my classes and yoga workshops other teachers use it as well as various meditation groups.
In 2010 I created an audio programme and called it Yoga for Busy People. It includes nine 20 minute audio sessions and various relaxations and meditations. It's very well illustrated with photo's. I spent 100's of hours on this honing and honing again the wording and timing. That experience fed into my teaching adding to the clarity of my verbal instructions. The programme is available for download on this site but I'm looking forward to recording more hours of different sessions for Audible Yoga.
With 30 years of teaching under my belt I can still truthfully say that I love practising and teaching yoga as much, if not more, now as I did when I started.
