Melissa has been practicing yoga for over 10 years. She grew up on a farm where yoga wasn't even a word in her vocabulary, let alone a possible life passion. Melissa was turned onto yoga by a friend in college & instantly fell in love. As a connection with the origins of yoga became stronger, she became increasingly passionate about it. Her inquiry of yoga led her to study a variety of yoga styles in-depth, including Vinyasa, Hatha, Anusara, Ashtanga, Baptiste, Restorative & Bikram. Inspired & wanting to learn more, Melissa took her practice to the next level & enrolled in a 200-hour yoga teacher-training program in 2012 with Annie Carpenter. Melissa believes strongly that consistency is the pathway to change. Showing up on your mat everyday without fail is the best way to receive all the rewards yoga has to offer, not only on the mat but in your daily life. Aspiring to live & practice daily by the foundations of her teacher training Abhyasa- Do your practice & Vairagya- All is coming. She specializes in guiding her students to cultivate & build a strong foundation for a life long practice. Melissa strives to have a 'beginners mind' when it comes to her daily practice & teaching her students. Teaching beginners, intro to yoga, basics, meditation & yoga fundamental classes are her passion. With attentiveness towards alignment & the way our bodies move Melissa creates a safe space for all of her students, from beginners to advanced, to grow. Her classes are a combination of creative sequencing, a playful spirit, & a dose of inspiration to help everyone that practices with her deepen their practice. Melissa seeks to help others thrive in life by nurturing body, mind, & soul with yoga and meditation. Her hope is that her students step off the mat feeling refreshed, nourished, & balanced.
