Jessica has been instructing Group Fitness classes for 14 years. At a young age she was encouraged to participate in sports and fitness related activities. In 2008, when working for the YMCA, she had the opportunity to take her very first yoga class. Even though Jessica was motivated by the health benefits that fitness has to offer, yoga opened a doorway from her physical self to the psychology of her inner mind, body, and spirit that she hadn’t anticipated. This forever changed her path. With an integrative approach, the slow blend of movement, breath and focus truly awakened her sense of inner guidance. Her body knew what was right for her all along and yoga brought this awareness to the surface. Jessica’s original taste of yoga training was through Centergy, which is a Body Training Systems program. Centergy simply means to center your energy. This training intensive program blended the practices of pilates and yoga through alignment, execution, connecting, and coaching. In 2009 Jessica took Yoga Fit Teacher Training which focused on basic poses. Then, immediately following the training, Jessica studied for several months with Michelle Brannon learning patience and skillful sequencing. In 2013, Jessica took her 200 Hour Training with Joanna Cashman, studying Hatha with an emphasis in Restorative and Therapeutic approaches. Jessica is registered with Yoga Alliance as a yoga teacher. Through her training she learned the importance of detail and the knowledge of alignment principles. This helps to prevent injury and therefore offers students maximum benefit from their practice. Jessica’s teaching emphasizes the art to truly breathing and incorporates connection of the breath with sensation, moment to moment, so that the poses arise from an inner wisdom rather than an outer form imposed upon the body. Her classes are skillfully sequenced to facilitate energy, focus, concentration, and intention. She encourages her students to investigate during their practice to perceived limitations with an open heart and mind. Jessica is consistent in sequencing and individualized clear instruction so that each student begins to deepen their personal practice in a well balanced class. In Jessica’s class you will build a foundation beginning with breath, core strength, flexibility, balance. These foundations lead one to created discipline of the mind, which results in positive change and empowerment. Jessica is passionate in sharing the benefits of yoga with students of all ages and abilities. Whether first timers or looking to maintain your practice, Jessica’s goal is for her students to walk away from class with the sense of inner peace and a new perspective both on and off the mat.
