This class works through the full primary series. It is suitable for those with some prior knowledge of the Ashtanga yoga primary series and its postures. Because Ashtanga is an athletic style of yoga, this class will challenge your body and build strength, flexibility, and stamina. Physical and mental purification is achieved through the building of agni or fire, internal heat, in this practice. A set sequence of postures is practiced in time with the breath, this allowing you to clearly see your progress over time, and eventually even becomes a moving meditation. Ashtanga yoga uses the tristana, or threefold method, of posture, breath, and gaze point, to bring focus and concentration and calm the mind, bringing you to a state of inner peace.
