Restorative Yoga is a form of practice directed towards students stressed or ill, those in need of self-care, those who need a very gentle practice and who are looking to regain a sense of calm. The practice is best utilized close to bedtime, as the physical and mental body are at ease. It involves the use of props to allow the body to feel totally supported, to allow the body to relax and release. In this particular class, we use a bolster and blocks. Yin Yoga does not always use props, but the poses are held longer than normal, about 2-5 minutes. The longer holds target and allow the connective tissue of the body to be stretched to help release deeply stored tension. I hope you enjoy.
