Starting in sukasana or any comfortable pose, this class is designed to open the body and the breath to engage the parasympathetic nervous system. Teaching you many ways to soothe yourself, especially using many breathing techniques that engage the parasympathetic nervous system. This is what we need to rest, digest and get into a nice restful sleep. We use the shuni mudras in class. We find a still point, we choose postures that effectively slow down the body. We do a progressive relaxation to teach a grounding, letting go. We hear a passage from the Tao Te Ching... this is a beautiful experience of going inward, teaching soothing and relaxation even in times of stress. This will be a friend at night time or stressful times
