A mindful, flowing, circular practice that honors December's Full Cold Moon and the longest night of the year. It's a time for making plans, and welcoming the illumination that's to come. We'll move through postures with internal (Prasarita Padottonasana, or Wide-Legged Forward Bend) and external rotation of the hips--Utkata Konasana (Goddess), Malasana (Squat), etc. It's nice to have a blanket for knee support during prone postures--especially Ardha Bhekhasana (Half Frog). This class closes with the Gayatri mantra, in a gesture of praise for the sun, bringing enlightenment to each of us. If you're practicing during the holiday season and you'd like to join as aromatically as well, consider diffusing a blend of frankincense and myrrh essential oils to enhance your meditative state.
