Trataka is one of the six cleansing practices of Yoga and is a potent detox for the mind. You'll need a comfortable seat, either a seated yoga pose (sukhasana/cross legged or vajrasana/kneeling) or simply sitting comfortably in a chair. Make sure you're comfortable enough so that you don't need to think about adjusting your body or changing seats as you settle in for this 30 minute meditation. You'll also need to light a candle about 2 feet in front of you. The candle should be the height of the eyes, so you're neither looking up or down to the candle. Once all that is in place, you can start your audio meditation. Trataka is good for helping you to sleep well, relieving anxiety, steadying/strengthening the nervous system and calming the body and mind. Regular practice can significantly change your stress levels and is helpful for all conditions linked with stress.
