The abundance of the upcoming holidays can often lead to issues with digestion, whether it be physical (putting away that pie), emotional (getting through challenging family get-togethers) or mental (navigating over-the-top holiday expectations). Yin yoga can help you assimilate whatever life sends your way, and process the resulting feelings. Prepare for your Thanksgiving celebration with a class that addresses your Spleen/Stomach and Liver/Gallbladder Meridians, which will help you digest and detox more than just your dinner. This class provides a little more discussion, explanation and support around the yin style, so it's suitable for those newer to the practice. I always appreciate the support of props during all of my practices, but I suggest at least a firm cushion if the other items aren't available. I offered an emotionally supportive essential oil blend with neroli, patchouli, geranium, marjoram, lavender, and sweet orange during this class--if one or more of those oils speak to you, feel free to diffuse them during your practice. Issues with your knees? Follow the instructions I give to Paula, especially during those postures taken from table. She remains seated and uses the support of a wall for her back while she holds one bent knee in toward her heart.
