This workshop-style class provides ample time for exploring the Virabhadrasanas ... warriors I, II, as well as exalted (reverse) and humble warrior. We'll also play with balance variations such as Virabhadrasana III and flying warrior, and try different ways to come into and out of the postures. Feel free to take breaks and/or replay certain rounds of this class so you can really find the subtle details of the postures that you don't always have time to discover during a standard group flow class. I love to have four blocks for this class, set up in two "block towers" at the right and left corners of the front of my mat. One set of blocks (the firmer and/or larger set, if your two sets are different) on their lowest heights, and the other set (the lighter and/or smaller set) on their highest height, set atop the first set. If you don't have two sets of blocks, no worries ... one set of blocks on their highest height will work fine. We also try Ratna Prabha Mudra (Gesture of the Radiant Jewel) toward the end of this class, which counts upon your physical strength and vitality to support your postures. This class is a longer, slower version of my 60-minute "Warrior I and Friends" class, with the Warrior II-based postures added in. You might like to join us by diffusing some myrrh during this class. I find it to be a nice woodsy, deep fragrance--wonderful for the season of autumn, when this class was recorded. Photo credit: Fournier & Malloy Photographers
