This Ashtanga yoga class is a 60 minute beginner's class. It is suitable for those new to Ashtanga yoga. In this class the ujjayi breath technique is introduced, and the postures are introduced in a way accessible for beginners, while still being a challenging session! Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga is an athletic style of yoga which will challenge and build strength, flexibility, and stamina. Physical and mental purifications is achieved through the building of agni or fire, internal heat, in this challenging practice. A set sequence of postures is practiced in time with the breath, this allowing you to clearly see your progress over time, and eventually even becomes a moving meditation. Ashtanga yoga uses the tristana, or threefold method, of posture, breath, and gazepoint, to bring focus and concentration and calm the mind, bringing you to a state of inner peace.
